We spent Friday & Saturday in Memphis, Tennessee. While there we went down to the Rock & Soul Museum and saw the history of Blues & Soul Music in Memphis. B.B. King, Ike Turner, and of course, Elvis, got their start there. From there we drove over to the Peabody Hotel and watched the marching of the ducks. If you haven’t heard of it – it’s really quite cute. The Peabody has an inside fountain that five ducks swim in from 11am-5pm. When they are not working – they are in the Duck Palace on the roof of the hotel. So every morning and afternoon the ducks march to and from the fountain on a red carpet accompanied by music. It draws quite a crowd! We then drove up to the edge of the Mississippi River, hoping to find the Delta Queen docked in town – but we missed it by a few days – oh well!

Saturday we spent the afternoon at Graceland – highly overpriced, but cool to see nonetheless. We toured the mansion which took us through several downstairs rooms, including the living room, music room, dining room, kitchen, pool room, and jungle room. We then saw a few other buildings – mostly used to hold many of his awards and memorabilia. Outside was the Presley gravesite where Elvis, his parents, and grandmother are buried. Across the street is home to the Elvis auto museum, more memorabilia, and his two planes. We found a novelty store going out of business - so needless to say we’ve got all kinds of cheesy Elvis souvenirs! Jess and Chris have been singing Elvis tunes all night (although Chris has now moved on to the Stray Cats – whatever works to entertain him while he’s driving!)

We are currently just outside of St. Louis, Missouri – off to see the Arch!
