North Carolina & Georgia

We spent the weekend visiting with friends in Charlotte, NC. It was so nice to see familiar faces again! Friday we hooked up with the McGinnis family – long-time friends from Sylvan Oaks Christian Church – who moved to Charlotte two years ago. We left the girls with them for the evening while we caught up with some other friends – the Beaumonts. They happened to be a part of a big apologetics conference put on by the Seminary where Doug teaches. Chris and I were able to attend Friday night’s session – it was excellent! We ordered the MP3’s for Saturday’s conference – can’t wait to listen to them! Saturday through Monday was spent hanging out more with the McGinnis’ and the Beaumonts. It was hard to leave – especially for Julia & Jessica as they really have missed the McGinnis girls!

Wednesday we spent in Atlanta, Georgia. We toured the World of Coca-Cola – (we actually paid to be bombarded with advertising!) But it was fun – we were able to try all kinds of interesting beverages from around the world. We had lunch at Atlanta’s The Varsity – tiny burgers, but good onion rings, fries, and ice cream. We then drove by Olympic Park and then made our way to the Martin Luther King Jr. Historic Site. We were able tour the house where M.L.K. was born and lived until his 12th year. We saw Ebenezer Church – where both his Father and he preached, a small museum, and his gravesite.

From this point on, we will be making our way back West. Planned stops so far include Memphis, St. Louis, and Branson – all subject to change due to weather conditions!
