Hi all -
We're finally settling into a schedule after our travels! We've been asked by several people if it's good to be home - my answer has been, "ask me in a few weeks." We had a great trip and miss the great family time - but it is very nice to be surrounded by friends and family again.
One thing that I became convicted about on the trip is my lack of involvement in what is going on in our country. I am very complacent - and I live (along with several of you) within minutes of the headquarters of one of the most influential states! Learning about our history and the seeing decline of our nation has caused me to want to do something. I was encouraged at an apologetics seminar in North Carolina that a good first step is simply keeping abreast of current events and writing the appropriate government officials when necessary. I have come across a website run by Focus on the Family that makes it really easy to do this - Citizen Link. They post all the current legislation and events that would warrant a letter and even provide a way to easily e-mail your representatives. It only took me minutes to e-mail a note to several of our representatives! I would encourage each of you to make your voice heard. You can check the Citizen Link site out at http://www.family.org/forum/action_center.cfm . I signed up for their daily e-mail - so I will have a reminder on where I need to follow up. If you have any other great resources - I'd love to hear about them.
I swear - I'm not on commission - I just wanted to encourage you to join me in trying to make this place better for our kids.
From my soapbox...
