Maine

We found a wonderful RV park near Bangor, Maine on Friday.  We liked it so much, we stayed four nights!  Everyone is so friendly here.  We had some bad weather (rain and wind) over the weekend – so we caught up on some errands, did some thrift store shopping, went to a children’s museum, and went to church (a traditional Baptist that my dad would have just loved – I was the only gal wearing jeans and we actually sat in pews and sang out of hymnals ()  Monday it cleared up enough to go to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.  Acadia was beautiful!  Lots of fall colors and spectacular coastline.  We drove to 20 mile loop through the park and stopped a few times to explore.  One of the stops was Cadillac Mountain – the tallest mountain west of the Mississippi.  We had amazing views of the ocean, Bar Harbor, and the park.  We also stopped at Thunder Hole where the ocean crashes into a cove of rocks – very cool!  We then went over to Bar Harbor – a cute, touristy port town – to stroll through the shops and get an authentic Maine lobster dinner.  It’s really the first time we all had lobster – have to say we prefer the Tillamook crab (I don’t think anything will ever top the crab feed we had on the beach with the Crist’s youth group a few years ago!) We leaving today to head back to southern Massachusetts – we have a few sights we have to catch there.  So much to see – so little time (and money!)
